  5.     Thank you for taking a look at "F & L".  F & L is short for
  6.     "forms & letters".  These are a set of files in popular word
  7.     processing formats.  Unlike other forms or letter packages,
  8.     these files are already formatted saving you hours of time!
  9.     These particular files are aimed at business users.
  10.     
  11.     (This program is also available for Macintosh.  Files are in
  12.     Word, 4.0, Works 2.0 and TEXT formats.  Look for filename
  13.     FANDL10.SIT.)

  15.     "F & L" was written by David A. Works, a member of the
  16.     Association of Shareware Professionals (ASP).

  21.     If you have read enough already and want to start, here are some
  22.     instructions to get started.  More help is available in the
  23.     "User's Guide".

  28.     Requirements
  29.     
  30.     Any PC with a word processing or page layout program will do
  31.     fine.  If you have Microsoft Word for Windows 2.0, WordPerfect
  32.     5.1 or Works 2.0 (or greater) the files are ready to go and
  33.     include sample formats, styles, fonts (Helvetica and Times), and
  34.     some very simple graphics (like boxes).  These files are
  35.     designed for use by those with a basic (not advanced) knowledge
  36.     of word processing.

  42.     The files are in four formats: Word for Windows 2.0, WordPerfect
  43.     5.1, MS Works 2.0 and ASCII text.  To use the files, simply open
  44.     your word processing program and select the appropriate file.
  45.     If you have a different word processing program, you may be able
  46.     to import one of these formats or you may use the ASCII files.

  101.          All users can obtain Technical Support either by U. S.
  102.     Mail, CompuServe Email (70400,153), GEnie (D.Works3), or America
  103.     OnLine (DavidW2959).  We will try our best to fully support
  104.     unregistered users during their evaluation period, but we will
  105.     give priority to registered users, if necessary.  Registered
  106.     users become eligible to receive free, unlimited Technical
  107.     Support by telephone.

  113.          Shareware describes a method of distributing copyrighted
  114.     software in which a user is allowed to fully evaluate the
  115.     software before purchasing it.  After an evaluation period, the
  116.     user is required to register the product if s/he decides to keep
  117.     using it.

  119.          Shareware distribution addresses all the legitimate
  120.     complaints that users have with commercial software
  121.     distribution.

  123.     *   Shareware allows a user to fully evaluate a product, free of
  124.         charge, in his or her home, *before* deciding to buy it.

  126.     *   Shareware programs can circulate freely on Bulletin
  127.         Boards, through Shareware disk distributors, or through user
  128.         groups.

  130.     *   Because Shareware distribution reduces the need to advertise,
  131.         Shareware is less expensive than commercial software.

  133.     *   Shareware authors can often be more responsive to users'
  134.         requests for help or bug fixes than large software companies.

  136.     *   Shareware software, needless to say, is never copy-protected.

  139.         In short, Shareware is a user's dream come true.  Users show
  140.     their appreciation to developers for this extremely flexible
  141.     distribution scheme by registering their software.  Without user
  142.     registrations Shareware software would gradually disappear.  It
  143.     is not sufficient to simply let the "other guy" pay the
  144.     registration.  You are the other guy's "other guy".

  148.         Shareware is not "free" software.  Shareware is not Public
  149.     Domain software.  The fee that you may have paid to receive a
  150.     Shareware program does not mean that the software has been paid
  151.     for.  This money was paid to a Shareware disk vendor, User
  152.     Group, Bulletin Board Service or retailer to cover their cost of
  153.     getting the program to you.  Shareware software is paid for by
  154.     registering your copy with the author.
